Ferntree Gully Picture Framing, visit our showroom at 577 Dorset Road, Bayswater North, open 7 days.

Family owned since 1973

Frames Now were established in 1973 and whilst is still under the same family ownership over four decades have grown to Australia’s largest picture framing business. That growth is a decision of the founder Glenn Vardy of never diversifying from the core business of picture framing. There are no prints, posters, mirrors for sale, only ready made picture frames and custom picture framing. Glenn has said that he never wanted the customer confused about the business whether it was a gift shop, print shop, simply just the best range of frames available.

Ferntree Gully Art Society

The success of the Bayswater North business is the adaption over time to what customers are framing, In the early seventies when Glenn started the business there was a lot of focus on local artists and framing for local art shows. Over the decades as a commitment to local artists Frames Now have been and continue to be supporters of one of the Melbournes oldest and most active art groups the Ferntree Gully Art Society. Back in 1944 when the society was formed it was under the Ferntree Gully shire, which now falls under the City of Knox.

Today local artists continue to be an important part of the Frames Now business. Artists always have a keen eye for great design, new mouldings, and matboards. Whilst artists understand the importance of great framing design, they ensure the choice of materials used protects and preserves the art. This is an element that the picture framers at Frames Now (many artists themselves ) understand that additionally, they must maintain the aesthetics of ensuring that the picture framing enhances the art and does not detract or overpower. Additionally, there needs to be a commercial reality that the framed art still need to be sold.

Ferntree Gully Arts Society run a number of exhibitions for its members to exhibit and sell art during the year.
